In between gorgeous, bold, beautiful shoes and handbags in the Mount Street boutique of the Christian Louboutin store in London, you’ll notice giant letters, lit-up, that spell “Christian Louboutin”.
Created by Studio Xag, each letter has its own story to tell and can be traced back to vintage-style Vegas signage. The final offering is the result of much typographical experimentation, says Studio Xag. They laser-cut a 1:10 scale model in acrylic material to get a real feeling for, and understanding of the proportion, lighting configuration and colours.
The funky, bright lights comprise a mix of pygmy and Golfball bulbs, in fours different neon colours and backlit Perspex and crystal Cabochon. To create a sense of continuity each letter was powder-coated in a rich, glossy colour to match a shoe or handbag in Christian Louboutin’s current range
