Earlier this year artist EVOL was invited to create an installation for the MS Dockville Music Festival in Hamburg, Germany. The event, which is expected to draw in thousands, is an end of summer soiree that celebrates art and music in the great outdoors. EVOL, who is best known for creating landscape integrated installations, set out to create the same on the MS Dockville site. But when he was met with his canvas all he found was endless meadow, trees and blue sky – not what he was expecting as an artist working primarily within the urbanscape. So in the face of an uniform site, rather than adding and building up, EVOL decided to cut into the landscape and create a contrasting derelict fabric embedded in the earth. (via Inhabitat)
