For Haute Couture Week 2011, Van Cleef & Arpels have created four new iconic 'Zip' necklaces and cuffs. This style is made from white gold set with diamonds, white cultured pearls, white mother-of-pearl and lapis lazuli.
The Zip fastener, invented for the clothing worn by sailors and pilots, has been the inspiration for one of Van Cleef & Arpels' most famous creations; the Zip necklace.
The idea for the Zip necklace was suggested by the Duchess of Windsor to the Artistic Director of Van Cleef & Arpels, Renée Puissant, who founded the Maison in 1906

Bohcheron's 'Adam' necklace comprises a twisting snake, complete with eyes made from emeralds.
The inspiration for the new 'Drakontas' ring is a magical and powerful dragon, a name that the Greeks gave to this fire breathing mythical animal. In-keeping with its dark nature, the ring is crafted from blackened gold with the body of the scaly beast recreated in a pavé of pink sapphires, rubies and diamonds. Behind the deftly sculpted head and wings sits a blood red cabochon rubellite of over 21 carats.
The snake bracelet is made from four rows of pearls with a central sculpted snake that writhes around a dazzling diamond leafed branche.
