Valentino SS2011 ( styling )

The sheer amount of florals, lace, chiffon, and ruffles would have made Valentino himself proud. Although designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri got off to a rough start as designers at the illustrious label, their past seasons have found them back on track, with this S/S 2012 being their best yet.
Inspired by photographs of Graciela Iturbide and Georgia O’Keeffe, and a Mexican “state of mind”, the designs were definitely of the dreamy variety—cotton lace frocks from off-white to black, intricate appliqués on organza, fine Chantilly net, and fields of flowers throughout.
And knowing how a girl wants to feel and move when she goes out, the silhouettes also had the female form in mind. Modest but flattering shapes, high necklines and higher waistlines, above-the-ankle hems, and sleeves that gently puff and softly balloons into the cuff.
