Bodice ( fashion dictionary )

A corset-shaped upper garment for women, worn like a vest and usually over a blouse or chemise. A bodice may have removable sleeves or be sleeveless and is typically laced either at the back or front. The bodice was traditionally made of simple homespun fabrics and served a similar function as a brassiere. It is now associated with the folk dress of European countries.
